Last Christmas (2019)

 Last Christmas
(2019) on IMDb

Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Emma Thompson, and Peter Mygind.

Movie Synopsis:
Kate (Emilia Clarke) suffers a significant medical illness that leads to a heart transplant. The movie starts a year later where it shows her working as an elf in a Christmas shop. She is struggling with who she is. She makes bad and risky choices until she meets Tom (Henry Golding) who helps her turn her life around.

More Details:
I am not going to add any more details. It is not what you expect. You will need to go see the movie to find out.

Overall Thoughts:
I am not going to lie. I loved this movie. It is a rom con which always has its’ pros and cons, but this one really surprised me. There is a twist that I never saw coming. I am usually pretty good at picking up where the story is headed but not in this case. I wasn’t even close. I am not going to talk about it here because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. As for the rest of the movie, I LOVED the George Michael soundtrack. Henry Golding was as charming as he could be. He is crazy handsome (hehe you will get this if you saw him in another famous rom com) and the movie version of an ideal man. Emilia Clarke was fun as the hot mess who gets her life back under control. I found the relationship between the shop owner (Michelle Yeoh) and the guy (Peter Mygind), with the ‘deer in the headlights” look in his eyes, kind of creepy but sweet all at the same time.

Couldn’t have been more perfect.

I would have liked a little more back story on the shop owner and why she was so attached to Kate. They also could have spent a little more time explaining Kate’s emergent and unexpected need for a heart transplant. I am in the medical field so this was interesting to me.

Special Effects:
Well done as most movies are nowadays.

Should You Go See This Movie?
Absolutely!!!! Fun, charming, great soundtrack, and most impressively unpredictable!
