Smokejumpers save 3 children from a remote cabin that is on fire. A terrible storm blows in before anyone could pick the children up and they are stranded together for the weekend. The rugged firefighters struggle with babysitting leading to a wild weekend.
“Supe” Carson (John Cena) is the head smokejumper. He is tough and meticulous. His father was a commander at the same smokejumper base before him. Supe practically was brought up at the base. Supe and his crew save three kids from a fire. The kids fake trying to get ahold of their parents and eventually it is discovered that their parents have died and they recently ran away from foster care. Supe feels obligated to call CPS who will pick up the children the following Monday. This leaves several days for mischievous behavior.
There were parts that were just downright painful. That being said, some parts were hysterical. Most of the really funny parts were in the trailer. The scene with Supe and Mark (Keegan-Michael Key) changing a diaper was hilarious. I also enjoyed the scene with the fire hose and detergent. Overall it wasn’t my favorite movie but my 7 year-old loved it. It was definitely made for kids. I was a little worried about the age appropriateness after watching the preceding movie trailers attached with this film, but the film was definitely appropriate for her.
The casting was good. The actors were able to let go and be goofy.
The script was hit or miss. The bloopers at the end were perfect.
The special effects were good. You rarely see a movie now a days that doesn’t have really good special effects.
Should You Go See This Movie?
My daughter says yes, yes, yes.
